Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Greg Holland, Trevor Gott lead new rescues while Brady Singer makes a mark

MLB Summary: Multiple Star Pitchers Go Opening Weekend

Disclaimer is always difficult at the beginning of the year. You make a big bias on little information, and sometimes you may end up tossing a more valuable asset or dumping FAAB dollars down the toilet.

In the two-month sprint that promises to be 2020, you must act quickly and decisively, even if not always rational.

The only category I know I need to support in almost all of my 5×5 leagues is economy. I never invest in them and it usually works because of all the changes taking place closer across the league. But since there isn't much time this year for these changes to occur, I have the opportunity to save even faster.

Oddly enough, one player I bet big on in all my leagues this weekend was Greg HollandHe struck out three in the tenth inning zero to secure his first save Saturday after supposedly closer Ian Kennedy worked sixth and seventh innings. New manager Mike Matheny has never approved of Kennedy as a loved one and is an old schoolboy who might prefer someone with Holland's track record. The last couple of years have certainly not been kind to Holland, but on this trip he spent a couple more miles an hour.

More than a pitcher, though, this is an opportunity I'm buying. Most pitchers who marveled at bailouts this weekend belong to particularly grim bullpen and have managers with particularly fickle bullpen taste. I thought about Trevor Gott (which actually recorded two saves) for Giants and Oliver Drake for raysThe path to Holland, by comparison, seems clear. And as much as I need the savings, I am going to invest in this way.

Other possibilities include Nick Burdi as a replacement for Keone Keela from Pirates or Anthony Bass as a replacement for Ken Giles from Blue jaysBut both of them are themselves speculative cases. My # 1 pickup for safes this weekend was Holland, and if you're in the same desperate position as me, you can play a similar game.
