Nuggets overwhelm the Clippers: the future of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic is here and it couldn't be better

Five times in these playoffs Denver Nuggets lost by double digits in the elimination game. All five games they returned to win. Seen through the lens of "one game at a time", none of these comebacks were believed. Denver is rich in talent and full of confidence. But on the whole, one would expect the law of averages to eventually prevail.

You can't lose 3-1 in a series in a row and come back to win both of them, can you?

This has literally never happened in its 74-year history. Nba

Until now.

The Nuggets reversed the double-digit deficit on Tuesday night. Los Angeles Clippers on tune 104-89 Winning Game 7… I would like to call the result stunning. But was it? These nuggets have played four games in the seventh in the last two postseasons, and they have now won three of them. Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic Super stars. Yes, Super stars… For Murray, there may not yet be consistency in scoring, but you'll be hard pressed to find more than three point guards you'd rather have in a one-game scenario, especially when you're back against the wall.

Is Jokić leaving? Watching him patiently wait for the cutters to open is breathtaking in his anticipation. And he is an elite scorer with excellent mid-range attack and 3-point range. This requires double commands to power its transmission. Great teams have useful attributes, elements you can rely on in tense games and moments, and right now there are several attributes in the league that you would rather depend on than pass Jokić and Murray's performance.

We haven't even gotten to the defense of Denver yet. The Nuggets made the playoffs bleeding. In their eight seeding matches in Orlando, they have lost 121.7 points per 100 possessions, trailing the last of all 22 teams in the bubble. In the last 10 games since losing 3-1 to Utah in the first round, the Nuggets have finished sixth in the playoff defense with 107.1 points out of 100. Kawaii Leonard and Clippers, the team that was to play in the conference finals with Lakers for the entire season to 89 points in the 7th game. In the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter, the Clips did not score from a field goal.

There is no way around this: Clippers will be strung on this loss. They played 3: 1. They had big advantages in all three private matches. They certainly deserve criticism. Leonard, widely discussed Lebron james how the best players in the world on Tuesday took 6th place out of 22. He scored 14 points, zero of which came in the fourth quarter. If LeBron did this in Game 7, the Internet would break.

George was even worse: 4 out of 16 shots, including 2 out of 11 out of 3, for 10 point points. Like Kavi, George showed a productive game in the fourth quarter. The self-proclaimed "Playoff P" is better off rethinking their posturing strategies. If the level is below zero, that's the amount of confidence I had on one of his shots throughout Game 7, and he looked even less confident than I felt on the couch when he actually shot. The word choke is too easily used in sports. This is not an exaggeration in this case, but I still think Denver deserves more credit than the Clippers.

The nuggets have stolen the Clips soul, collectively and individually. They won that game and that streak because they were the best team. Murray was fantastic when it mattered, and again, this shouldn't come as a surprise. He scored 42 and 50 points against Jazz Denver faced relegation and here in Game 7 he scored 40 points. Jokić could have been even better, despite only scoring 16 points on 5 of 13 shots, including 0 of 4 of 3. The dude made 22 rebounds and 13 assists. He was a team player plus 22 and became the first player in history to triple-double in Game 7 before the end of the third quarter.

It would be an oversight if I didn't scream Gary Harriswhich is a BIG part of the aforementioned Denver defensive turn. He is such a standout perimeter defender and Denver's spin and switching energy has increased significantly since his return. And he even fires a few shots after failing to hit the wide wall of the barn all year. In the seventh game, he showed 6 of 11 from the field, and his plus 21 in 37 minutes was second only to Jokic. Paul Millsup was much better than six points in six shots would have shown. Jerami Grant took some really big shots.

Look, Denver is no coincidence. They are super talented and very deep. They suddenly play defense. They play tough, together and very smart. They have not one, but two offensive wells. They have X factors like Michael Porter Jr. and Harris that can play the game any night.

With this result, people are preparing the Lakers for the NBA Finals, acting as if Denver's upset was a blessing. Be careful with your desires. Denver nuggets are no joke. Until now, we have always talked about them in the future: about a team that is on the rise, but has not yet fully reached its goal, about the notorious team at a distance of one player. Well, forget about it. They might not beat the Lakers, but they've arrived. Their future has already arrived. And it couldn't get any brighter right now.
